I love the way you have put her story across. Like life. Slowly. With pauses along the way.

This story is very touching. I so appreciate the insight into village life in India. I eagerly await to hear about your mountain retreat experience.

Thanks Mark. I hitch-hiked to Delhi yesterday and will be off to the mountains today. Will keep sharing pictures and writing from a beautiful heritage homestay.

“Why would you give away hope?”… such an astute question. You likely replenished Akshata’s hope by asking this. I’m wishing you an insightful vipassana retreat and looking forward to the continuation of this (and other) stories. Thank you so much for your writing!

Such a vivid story. Injustice is everywhere but this seems particularly cruel.

Yet, she smiles each day when she walks in. That is what baffles me the most!

I really appreciate your tales! You write beautifully. It kills me that the brother in law has kicked her out and robbed her of her share. Please help her. But strangely (as an ex lawyer specialising in employment litigation) filing a complaint may not provide a solution - it may just embroil her in an endless dispute which wears her down.. I shall say a prayer for whatever is best...

Thanks Caroline. I think a man's mind can work in weird ways and especially in India which is a land of contradictory thinking where one can be cruel and benevolent at the same time, this is amplified. I am helping her as much as I can. Lets see how the law of nature takes its course.
